Brown Trout
Alex Cagan | Drawing | Curious Nature
Brown trout is one species that takes three forms, which differ in their migration habits. One remains local to its birth where it will live out its life, spawn and die. The second migrates from lakes to fresh water rivers to spawn. The third migrates to the sea, only returning to spawn. There appears to be no genetic difference between them, so a reference genome will help to study the species in more depth.
