A letter from Captain Richard Holden, dated 1725, to the East India Company. The letter asks permission for his brother Thomas to captain the next voyage of their ship Mary, for the Company, due to an accident in Richard Holden’s family. The letter is signed by all the owners of the ship. As well as Richard Holden himself, the owners also include Thomas Brown – his brother-in-law.
