Arrange the Smarties in a pattern in lines using four colours; green, red, orange and blue. Mix them up, eat a few, try to remember and put them back in the original pattern.

This kitchen experiment was created by Ellie, Aless, Charli and Ana. It helps us to understand the challenges and processes involved for our DNA when trying to separate mutations that have occurred. The four colours used here represent the four bases in our DNA. When the pattern gets so mixed up it can be hard for our cells to fix as they have no memory of the original order.
