The Human Cell Atlas will give us the ‘parts list’ for a human being; we’ll know the types and numbers of cells that go together to build a human. This is equivalent to how this LEGO instruction manual tells us about the types and numbers of bricks that are needed as well as showing how the bricks go together to make the final 3D model. We hope that this will be a transformative resource for science and medicine.
