Genomics means many things to me. I have chosen to depict the power of genomics in discovering roles of genes in development. Understanding and manipulating genomes can change how a single cell develops into a whole organism with potential to prevent developmental disease. If a human embryo splits at the 8 cell stage, each cell can form a complete individual with identical genomes and physical features but may have different personalities and futures. Genomics is key to improving future lives.
