The world of news is like an arena, with stories battling for a finite number of words on a page. Journalist rhetoric demonises diseases. Scientists are our heroes, fighting to conquer disease and cure cancer. The inverted triangle represents the greater number of people who click on a headline, but fewer and fewer carry on reading. As a media officer, it is my job to fight against sensational headlines and present genomic research to journalists in a factual yet engaging way, so their audiences read to the end.
