Genomics means poo; using it to help profile people’s gut bacteria and to grow bacteria from it. With metagenomic analysis; stool samples can be profiled for 16SrRNA to see what kind of bacteria are growing in the host. Comparisons can be made between healthy and non-healthy hosts, and specific bacteria can be associated to an outcome. Bacterial strains can then be cultured, and stocked ready to become live bacterial therapeutics.
